The Beatles Top 60 Solo Songs: #15: “Junior’s Farm”- Wings. Paul McCartney and his band Wings spent some time in Nashville, Tennessee in 1974- while they were there they stayed in Lebanon, Tennessee with songwriter Curly Putnam. The stay at Putnam’s farm inspired the writing of “Junior’s Farm” which as a single in late 1974 peaked at #3 in the Billboard Hot 100. McCartney based the lyrical theme on the great Bob Dylan song from a decade earlier “Maggie’s Farm.” Paul would say not too look into the song for any deep meaning – that the song basically means -“Let’s get out of the city.” The b-side also made my Top 60- “Sally G.”
