Certainly no disagreement here. In fact, I had Bowie, the Kinks, and Rod on my initial list. Bitches Brew was a complete oversight on my part. Nice list, and happy new year!
Happy New Year Stephen- Hope you are continuing into 1971 starting tomorrow? I know there will be a point where I probably jump ship on the 50 year stuff but I plan on carrying on for 71 and 72 at the least..
Was there ever a better year for albums? I don’t think so.
Hmmm it was a very good year… 1971 will be pretty good too..
You surprised me on one and two…I thought you would have them switched…you can’t lose anyway.
Tea For The Tillerman is my all-time album. Cat Stevens at his creative peak. Ladies of The Canyon, CSN first album, and Dylans Nashville Skyline. I still have all those albums in good condition. I was in Barnes and Noble a few days ago, and Tea For The Tillerman is listed for 52.00. I think I paid 6.00 back in the day.
The prices now are outrageous for new albums.
Similar to Stephen’s list from introgroove, it’s simply mindboggling to me from today’s perspective how much great music came out in just that one year.
I didn’t have a big budget at the age of 14 in 1970 but I had Neil Young’s After The Gold Rush and CSN&Y’s Deja Vu. I loved both of those. I also had the Who’s Live at Leeds, which just wasn’t my cup of tea, and McCartney’s eponymous solo debut. I felt McCartney picked my pocket with that one with only one good song, Maybe I’m Amazed.
It’s odd how back then the critics panned the McCartney album but now it’s looked at more favorably. Not one of my favorites of his.
I many like your beautiful blog. A pleasure to come stroll on your pages. A great discovery and a very interesting blog. I will come back to visit you. Do not hesitate to visit my universe. Happy New Year 😊 A soon.
Thanks you. Happy New Year to you also!
Eclectic mix and a good mix. Lots of common ground Hans.
