• Boog Powell the first baseman for the Baltimore Orioles won the 1970 American League MVP Award- he had 35 home runs, 114 RBI’s and hit .297. He defeated runner-up Tony Oliva of the Minnesota Twins in the voting.
• Bob Dylan’s first novel- a stream -of -consciousness work called Tarantula was released. I read it about 40 years ago. I don’t think I have seen a copy anywhere since.
• The Elvis concert movie- Elvis- That’s The Way It Is- was released on this date.
