Sun Sounds- “Everybody’s Trying To Be My Baby”- Carl Perkins. A rockabilly classic by Carl Perkins that was based on a 1934 song written by Rex Griffin. Perkins recorded it in 1956- the version I heard first- of course The Beatles cover- another Beatles cover of a Carl Perkins song- this one sung by George who was a big Carl Perkins fan his entire life.
Carl Perkins has quite a song catalogue. He’s got good spin on his singing. Sounds a lot like Elvis.
Cool tune – actually, I’m also quite familiar with The Beatles cover but don’t believe I had heard the original before.
The Beatles got me to dig into Carl Perkins- they covered him so often! I believe on Beatles studio albums- The Beatles covered Carl in more songs than anyone else.
I think you’re right. The Beatles liked him. Carl Perkins was also a guest on McCartney’s “Tug of War” solo album from 1982.
