Grand Funk Railroad- from Flint, Michigan from 1969-76 had 19 Hot 100 singles and 9 making the Top 40. They had 2 #1 hits- “We’re An American Band” 1973 and “The Loco-Motion” 1974. They are one of those big 1970’s acts who seemed to fade from the scene rather quickly.
I always liked the Moody Blues-esque orchestral flourishes on this song. It would have been at home on “Days of Future Past”.
