I’ve never liked this song- but it is notable for the guitar solo by Wings guitarist Henry McCullough. This was the first big hit for Paul’s group Wings- he had a previous #1 with his wife Linda- “Uncle Albert/ Admiral Halsey” in 1971- and of course he was a part of 20 #1 hits with that obscure outfit from Liverpool- The Beatles in the 60’s. The song is a love song to his wife Linda. He has said that he wrote it early on in their relationship- 1969 or 1970.
Kind of a cornball tune, but I have grown to like it. Recently heard on a podcast that Macca recorded the vocals live with the orchestra. That’s pretty impressive. Took 20 takes.
Reasonably good song; not as good as many of his from Beatles but better than most of his from a decade later.
I’ve always loved this song.
