“Hello. I Love You” was written by The Doors front man Jim Morrison back in 1965. There were demos of the song made but it wasn’t released until three years later in 1968. The band in 1968 was struggling to make it’s third album due to Morrison’s drinking. The band decided to look through some of Morrison’s old poems in an effort to calm him down and ran across this song. There were allegations that the songs musical structure was nicked from Ray Davies Kinks hit “All Day And All Of The Night” which The Doors denied. An out of court settlement was reportedly reached.  The last verse of the song was inspired by seeing a beautiful black woman walking the beach in Venice, California where Morrison was living in 1965.
