Sounds of Summer- Day 22 of 95- “All Summer Long”- The Beach Boys. This is the third Beach Boys song in the series but what other artists makes you think summer- more than The Beach Boys? I assumed the song- written by Brian Wilson and Mike Love and sung by Love-  had been a hit single but it wasn’t even released as a single in the United States. It was released in the summer of 1964 on The Beach Boys 6th album- titled Almost Summer.  It’s a short song at 2:06- in the song the singer sings about all the things going on between himself and his girlfriend all summer long. The Beach Boys would after this album would shift away from what they were doing up to this point- songs celebrating the southern California lifestyle to more serious subjects- capped by the Pet Sounds album-

    • I wonder how many people in the last 50 plus years- moved to or visited California due to the Beach Boys version of the state?

  1. Off topic Hans… I’ve read the Dodgers are looking at Felipe Vázquez. The Pirates would get one of their number 1 catcher prospects plus a pitcher. I wouldn’t think the Pirates would trade him because they are still in line for a Wild Card plus the East is a mess…everyone is close.

    • I am not sure what the Pirates are thinking- I do know that Neil Huntington over the years as GM- turns over closers and has done a good job at finding the next one. It would surprise me to see Vazquez traded but I wouldn’t rule it out.

    • Only 3 1/2 games out..I haven’t looked at the standings in a week and a half…that would be a slap in the face .

    • They have been playing well the past month- I agree no reason to trade him. The next ten days or so should determine a lot with the Pirates though- they play contenders- need a strong showing.

    • I’m just getting back in the real world lol and I’ve read this in more than one place…I then looked at the standings and thought what the hell? On top of everything else the Pirates have him signed rather affordably for a few years.
