So many great songs on this list, especially Nights in White Satin, Alone Again (Naturally), Long Cool Woman (In a Black Dress), Where is the Love, Back Stabbers, Everybody Plays the Fool and Go All the Way. I also dislike Wayne Newton’s song, but think you’re being a bit harsh on Mac Davis. It’s a bland song, but I’d give it a ‘C’.
You are probably right on Mac Davis- maybe it was the Newton- Davis back to back on the list that did it to me!
Some great songs in the top 40 that week…Go All The Way, Long Cool Woman, Join Together etc…
Rick Springfield… I didn’t know he charted something that early.
I was surprised to see Rick Springfield with a hit in 1971 also- had never heard that song before.
I havent either… I guess I thought he just showed up in the eighties… he has some strong female fans…I worked as a graphic artist in the 90s and I worked up something for a fan club. Those ladies lived and breathed Rick Springfield.
Amazing how unlike today great music was still part of the mainstream. I’ve always liked that Hollies tune!
Always thought that Hollies tune- sounded under the influence a little -of CCR.
