2013 Independents Preview

Army – the Black Knights will have questions everywhere, at QB, on defense. Army is always disciplined football and will not beat themselves with mistakes, the talent gap is just too large to be overcome in most cases.

BYU – the Cougars will play one of the tougher schedules out there with games against Texas, Utah State, Boise State, Wisconsin and Notre Dame. 6-6 this season or better would be a success

Navy – the Midshipmen have a good deal in hand – finish with a winning record and they will go to the Bell Helicopter Bowl. I see that happening.

New Mexico State – the Aggies will be independent this one season then headed to the Sun Belt next season. They will need to be very fortunate to win games this season.

Idaho – is in a similar place as New Mexico State, independent this season before joining the Sun Belt. Tough schedule for the Vandals. May win 1 or 2 games at best.

Notre Dame – everything fell into place for the Irish last season until they met Alabama in the title game. A repeat of that season would be phenomenal, but doubtful. Brian Kelly has fared better than his predecessors, but they also had some early success. This team could be better than last years squad, but fail to repeat the success of last season.
