Robert W. Creamer who was one of the first people hired at Sports Illustrated and was a senior editor and writer at SI until the mid-80’s -had died at age 90. He is most noted for writing THE BIOGRAPHY on Babe Ruth “Babe: The Legend Comes To Life” which came out in the mid 70’s and is still in print. He also wrote a great book on Casey Stengel.

i remember him saying he saw the babe play as a kid…
thats awesome. i cannot help but think of the changes that people of his age saw.
i remember at my grandfathers funeral the speaker talking about how the what is a few hour car trip for us now was a journey of days back then. to think to have been able to see no automobiles to freeways. to see a baseball stadium and players back then on a rare occasion to being able to find almost anything at the touch of a mouse and a keyboard.
times have changed quickly that is for sure..a lot of changes..in a short amount of time..even in our lives
